the landowner has something in mind for his/her forest. Prairie Hills
Forestry Consulting can help them achieve their goals by preparing a forest
management plan. The plan will provide information about the existing
timber and how to accomplish both short term and long term goals of the
landowner.
In Illinois there are incentives to establishing a forest management plan. The property taxes on your timbered acres will be reduced to 1/6th of what they are assessed at now. Also under the Illinois Forestry Development Act once you have an accepted forest management plan you are eligible to apply for cost share to help you pay for practices such as tree planting and timber stand improvement.
